Collina interne della Toscana meridionale, a substrato siliceo, caratterizzate da un mosaico ambientale ad elevata eterogeneità.

4.2 Quality and importance

Vaste foreste tirreniche a Quercus suber ricche in specie silicicole mediterraneo-occidentali non comuni; cenosi di forra con specie relitte macrotermiche di origine terziaria; querceti decidui con stazioni molto cospicue di specie endemiche. Presenza del Mammifero Felis silvestris e dell'Anfibio Salamandrina terdigitata, genere endemico dell'Italia peninsulare. Presenza del Lepidottero Callimorpha qudripunctaria (nec quadripunctata!)
