Corso d'acqua a dinamica naturale o seminaturale, di notevole pregio paesaggistico.

Soprattutto nelle aree dove è più ampio e caratterizzato da vegetazione discontinua l'alveo del Fiora è utilizzato da numerose specie ornitiche rare e minacciate tipiche della garighe e degli altri ambienti aperti. Sito di rilevante importanza per la conservazione di Lutra lutra.
