Massiccio di natura prevalentemente calcarea, di elevato valore paesaggistico. Presenti fenomeni carsici.

4.2 Quality and importance

Area caratterizzata da un'elevata diversità ambientale. Negli impluvi e nelle doline ospita foreste mesofile a Fraxinus excelsior, Fagus sylvatica, Acer sp. pl., Quercus cerris; presenti anche praterie litofile ricche di specie di interesse fitogeografico. Da segnalare la presenza di specie ornitiche rare e minacciate, legate alle praterie e alle zone rupestri.
