Other Site Characteristics

Valle profonda ed incassata che per ampi tratti assume l'aspetto di forra. Oltre agli habitat segnalati con codice ed attribuiti alle associazioni: Asperulo purpureae-Brometum erecti (6210), Saponario-Salicetum purpureae (92A0), Saxifrago australis-Trisetetum bertolonii (8213) e Polysticho-Fagetum (9210), a cui si aggiungono le boscaglie a Laurus nobilis (5310);sono presenti boschi cedui di Ostrya carpinifolia, dell'associazione Scutellario-Ostryetum, e limitati lembi arbustivi a Quercus ilex.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito comprede una delle più importanti forre dell'Appennino umbro-marchigiano. In particolare, il settore rupestre e semirupestre, si contraddistinguono per il basso grado di antropizzazione (per ampi tratti assente) e per la presenza di associazioni casmofitiche (Saxifrago autralis-Trisetetum bertolonii) ed alto arbustive (boscaglia a Laurus nobilis) di grande interesse fitogeografico, storico e naturalistico. La forra è contornata dalle più tipiche associazioni forestali e pascolive dei settori collinari dell'Appennino calcareo umbro-marchigiano. Oltre alle entità endemiche, sono state indicate Primula auricola (rara a livello regionale) e Laurus nobilis (di particolare interesse fitogeografico). Tra la fauna da segnalare Potamon fluviatile fluviatile (specie in rarefazione) e Tichodroma muraria (poco comune)
