Other Site Characteristics

Stretta valle calcarea prevalentemente risoperta da vegetazione arborea, dove oltre agli habitat segnalati con codice ed attribuiti alle associazioni Brizo mediae-Brometum erecti, Asperulo purpureae-Brometum erecti (6210) ed all'ordine Thero-Brachyopodietalia (6220), si rinvengono boschi di: Quercus cerris riferiti al Carici sylvaticae-Quercetum cerridis; Quercus cerris e Quercus pubescens, inquadrabili nell'ordine Quercetalia pubescenti-petraeae; Ostrya carpinifolia dell'associazione Scutellario-Ostryetum; Fagus sylvatica riferibili all'associazione Polysticho-Fagetum; Carpinus betulus e Corylus avellana dell'associazione Carpineto betuli-Coryletum avellanae, nonchè, sui versanti più soleggiati, boscaglie a Quercus pubescens (91H0).

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito si contraddistingue per la notevole biodiversità in relazione allo spazio ristretto, dovuta alla presenza di numerosi habitat in buono stato di conservazione. Di particolare importanza sono le cerrete a fustaia, che costituiscono un campione dei boschi mesofili con numerose specie acidofile ed entità appartenenti ai Fagetalia sylvaticae, che sono sviluppati solo in corrispondenza di limitate aree con particolari condizioni geomorfologiche e bioclimatiche dell'Appennino umbro-marchigiano. Tra la fauna da segnalare anche Buteo buteo, Falco tinnunculus (poco comuni)
