Other Site Characteristics

Rilievo collinare di natura arenacea ricoperto prevalentemente da boschi che, oltre agli habitat segnalati con codice ed attribuiti alla classe Thero-Brachyopodietea (6220) ed all'associazione Orno-Quercetum ilicis (9340), sono presenti limitati lembi di boschi caducifogli a Quercus cerris e nuclei arbustivi a Juniperus oxycedrus, Cistus incanus ed Erica scoparia.

4.2 Quality and importance

Area collinare arenacea ricoperta quasi interamente da una lecceta subacidofila, governata a ceduo ma molto fitta e ricca di specie erbacee ed arbustive. Questo tipo di bosco non è molto diffuso in Umbria poichè la maggior parte delle leccete si trovano su substrati carbonatici. Quella presente nel sito è sicuramente uno dei migliori esempi regionali. Tra le specie floristiche, Malus florentina è stata segnalata poichè rara a livello regionale. Tra la fauna da segnalare anche Mustela putorius (specie vulnerabile e rara).
