Other Site Characteristics

Area con paleosuoli lisciviati, acidificati e mineralizzati, dove oltre agli habitat segnalati ed attribuiti alle associazioni Danthonio-Callunetum ed Hieracio racemosi-Quercetum petraeae (9190), è presente lungo le linee di ruscellamento primaverile, l'associazione Oenantho pimpinelloides-Linetum biennis.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito racchiude uno degli ultimi lembi di bosco planiziale acidofilo dell'Umbria e del Italia centrale. Questa cenosi, inquadrabile nel Quercion robori-petraeae è tipica dell'Europa centrale ed in Umbria si trova al limite meridonale del suo areale e pertanto assume un notevole interesse fitogeografico e naturalistico. Molto importanti sono poi le cenosi di sostituzione quali: brughiere a Calluna vulgaris; aggruppamenti a Molinia caerulea; vegetazione dei ruscelli primaverili dell'Oenantho pimpinelloides-Linetum biennis. Tra le specie floristiche presenti spiccano Tuberaria legnosa, rarissima a livello nazionale, Calluna vulgaris, di interesse fitogeografico e Malus florentina, rara a livello regionale.. Tra la fauna da segnalare anche la presenza del Buteo buteo del Falco tinnunculus e della Sylvia melanocephala (specie poco comuni).
