Other Site Characteristics

Area pianeggiante di fondovalle con risorgive ed attraversata dal Fosso di Campiano, dove gli habitat segnalati con codice si riferiscono a: aggruppamenti a Ranunculus tricophyllus (3260), formazioni ad Juncus articulatus e Juncus inflexus (6420) e boschi a Salix alba inquadrabili nel Salicetum albae (92A0). Nella zona sono presenti, inoltre, cariceti a Carex distans e Carex hirta, lembi di Caricetum gracilis; vaste aree un tempo falciate periodicamente ed attualmente ricoperte da Phragmites australis; prati ad Arrhenatherum elatius nonché boschetti a Salix cinerea. Sui primi contrafforti collinari che delimitano l'area sono presenti boschi a Quercus pubescens con Carpinus orientalis.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito racchiude un complesso di ambienti umidi e acquatici, altrove divenuti molto rari, qui ben conservati e rappresentativi. In particolare, di notevole pregio geobotanico sono la vegetazione idrofitica del Torrente Campiano ed i boschetti a Salix cinerea, presenti in una delle pochissime stazioni dell'Appennino centrale. Ugualmente importanti, da un punto di vista fitogeografico, sono i prati falciabili ad Arrhenatherium elatius, fitocenosi estremamente rara nell'Appennino centro-meridionale. Tra le entità floristiche presenti nell'area, oltre agli endemismi, sono di particolare rilievo: Orchis incarnata, rara a livello nazionale; Salix cinerea e Ranunculus acris, rare a livello regionale. Tra la fauna è stato segnalato anche Accipiter nisus (specie rara), Buteo buteo, Cettia cetti, Falco tinnunculus e Parus palustris (specie poco comuni).
