Other Site Characteristics

Profonda incisione valliva contraddistinta, verso l'alto, da imponenti pareti rocciose (Balze del Coscerno, Muraglie del M. Civitella) e da vaste conoidi, dove, oltre gli habitat segnalati con codice ed attribuiti, per quanto concerne la vegetazione rupicola, al Saxifragion australis (8213), si rinvengono boschi di Ostrya carpinifolia, dell'associazione Scutellario-Ostryetum. Sui brecciai più elevati, all'interno dei canaloni, è presente Drypis spinosa.

4.2 Quality and importance

Le imponenti pareti rocciose , in parte incise da lunghi canaloni, costituiscono un ottimo esempio di vegetazione appenninica rupicola e di brecciaio. Sono, infatti, presenti i principali tipi vegetazionali casmofitici, erbacei ed arbustivi. L'intera valle presenta una bassa antropizzazione. Tra la fauna è stata segnalata anche Rana graeca (specie vulnerabile), Accipiter nisus (specie rara), Buteo buteo, Falco tinnunculus e Tichodroma muraria (specie poco comuni).
