Other Site Characteristics

Profonda gola calcarea incisa dal Torrente Bagno in un'area ricca di sorgenti minerali, dove, oltre agli habitat segnalati con codice, sono presenti estesi boschi a Quercus cerris, talora conservati ad alto fusto, nonché cenosi a Quercus cerris e Quercus pubescens, riferibili all'ordine Quercetalia pubescenti-petraeae. Ai bordi delle sorgive è presente un'estesa colonia di Fontinalis antipyretica.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito comprende una delle più belle gole calcaree dell'Umbria, con un'interessante vegetazione rupicola. Le pareti rocciose, in basso, delimitano un piccolo lago naturale, popolato ai bordi da una fitta vegetazione a Fontinalis antipyretica. Tra la fauna è stata segnalato anche Aporia crataegi (lepidottero vulnerabile) e Buteo buteo (specie poco comune).
