Other Site Characteristics

Invaso artificiale soggetto a forti oscillazioni del livello delle acque con sponde argillose su cui, in primavera, si sviluppa una vegetazione riferibile alla classe Bidentetea. Solo in corrispondenza delle insenature più profonde si osservano lembi di vegetazione elofitica riferibile alle associazioni Phragmitetum australis e Typhetum latifoliae, inframezzate da popolamenti di idrofite natanti e sommerse come Lemna minor, Lemna gibba e Potamogeton crispus (3150).

4.2 Quality and importance

Dal punto di vista vegetazionale l'aspetto più rilevante del sito è costituito dalle vaste zone soggette a periodiche emersioni ed immersioni (dovute allo svuotamento ed al riempimento del bacino), dove si sviluppa una vegetazione annuale del Bidention che si presenta con la maggior superficie regionale. Tra le specie floristiche, oltre alle endemiche, sono state indicate Ampelodesmos mauritanica, Crypsis schoenoides, Gnaphalium luteo-album e Lemna gibba, poichè rare a livello regionale. Tra la fauna è stato segnalato anche Leuciscus cephalus (specie autoctona importante rispetto alla banalizzazione della comunità ittica), Buteo buteo e Cettia cetti (specie poco comuni).
