Other Site Characteristics

Vallata poco profonda ed aperta, incisa su substrato calcareo, dove gli habitat segnalati con codice sono attribuiti al Quercetalia pubescenti-petraeae (9260) ed alle associazioni Orno-Quercetum ilicis e Cephalanthero-Quercetum ilicis (9340). Nella valle si rinvengono, inoltre, aggruppamenti rupicoli di Laurus nobilis (5310) ed estesi boschi di Quercus cerris, inquadrabili nei Quercetalia pubescenti-petraeae.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il valore di questa vallata è dato dalla compatta copertura forestale, che rappresenta un buon esempio della vegetazione dei boschi caducifogli dei settori collinari dell'Umbria occidentale. Tra le entità floristiche presenti sono stati segnalati Crypsis schoenoides e Laurus nobilis, rare a livello regionale. Tra la fauna è stato segnalato anche Buteo buteo e Falco tinnunculus (specie poco comuni), e Martes martes (specie molto rara)
