Other Site Characteristics

Lago di recente formazione dovuto allo sbarramento artificiale del Fiume Tevere nei pressi di Alviano. Gli habitat segnalati con codice corrispondono ad aggruppamenti a Lemna minor ed a Potamogeton natans (3150); formazioni a Scirpus lacustris ed a Juncus sp. (6420); boschi e boscaglie ripariali inquadrabili nel Salicion albae (92A0) ed Alno-Ulmion (91E0). Lungo le sponde del lago si rinviene, inoltre, una vegetazione elofitica riferibile ai Phragmition australis, nei terrazzi alluvionali solo periodicamente inondati, sono presenti, invece, prati umidi del Caricion gracilis.

4.2 Quality and importance

L'importanza geobotanica del sito risiede nella presenza di numerose fitocenosi tipiche degli ambienti umidi ed acquatici in buono stato di conservazione. Rilievo particolare assumono, inoltre, i boschi di Alnus glutinosa, che rappresentano il nucleo più esteso lungo la valle del Tevere, costituendo una importantissima testimonianza di un ecosistema forestale in via di estinzione in Umbria. Tra le entità floristiche presenti sono state indicate: Utricularia minor, Utricularia vulgaris e Iris pseudacorus, poichè rare a livello regionale. Tra la fauna è stato segnalato anche Leuciscus cephalus (specie autoctona importante nei confronti della banalizzazione della comunità ittica), Triturus vulgaris meridionalis (specie vulnerabile), Cettia cetti (specie poco comune).
