Other Site Characteristics

Area montuosa comprendente i Monti Cetrognola (m 1491), Torricchio (m 1444) e Rotondo (m 1377) e relativi pendici, la Val di Tazza e la gola calcarea denominata "Le Porte", nell'alta Valle del Chienti; la vegetazione dei settori culminali è prevalentemente erbacea, con prati e prati-pascoli appartenenti a diverse associazioni vegetali ed una flora molto ricca di specie endemiche; la vegetazione dei versanti vallivi è di tipo forestale, con boschi di faggio (anche ad alto fusto), orniello e carpino nero. Orno-Ostryetum: 20%.

4.2 Quality and importance

Tipico territorio della media montagna appenninica, che comprende una notevole varietà di ambienti e di tipi di vegetazione, nonostante la limitata estensione; da segnalare la presenza del tasso e dell'agrifoglio, fortemente ridotti nei secoli scorsi in tutti i boschi dell'Appennino centrale. Stato di conservazione molto buono, tenuto conto degli interventi antropici susseguitisi nel corso dei secoli.

Sono comunque consentite le normali pratiche colturali nonché, negli incolti produttivi, il pascolo e la fienagione.
