Il complesso individuato dalla ZPS è costituito da litotipi appartenenti al calcare massiccio inciso da profonde valli come la zona denominata "Le Porte" e la Valnerina stessa.

4.2 Quality and importance

I siti sono meritevoli di tutela per la presenza di habitat prioritari e di una flora peculiare ed endemica dei pascoli e delle gole rupestri. Rilevante la presenza di Taxus baccata e Ilex aquifolium.
