Other Site Characteristics

Zona sommitale dei Monti della Laga in territorio appartenente alla Regione Marche, che culmina nella Macera della Morte (m 2073), un rilievo con il versante nord-orientale poco acclive e quello orientale scosceso e dirupato; l'area comprende nella parte inferiore boschi di faggio, nella località detta la "Selva Piana" e pascoli a nardo (nardeti) in quella sommitale. Presenza di alcune rare specie di Orchidee.

4.2 Quality and importance

Area di eccezionale interesse vegetazionale, trattandosi della sola zona di alta montagna delle Marche, formata di roccie arenacee che condizionano l'esistenza di associazioni vegetali specializzate. Area di rilevante importanza per la presenza dell'AQUILA e del LUPO. Popolazione stanziale di GRACCHIO CORALLINO.
