Other Site Characteristics

Il sito è caratterizzato da un versante settentrionale boscato e da uno meridionale privo di copertura arborea. Sul versante settentrionale sono dislocate, secondo fasce altitudinali successive dal basso verso l'alto, una formazione ad Abies alba, poi una fascia intermedia con Fagus sylvatica e infine una faggeta con Taxus e Ilex. GEOLOGIA: alternanza calcari marnosi e marne polverulenti, argillite e argille siltose. SUOLI: inceptisuoli xerochrepts - vertisuoli pellusterts. CLIMA: regione temperata termotipo montano superiore, ombrotipo umido superiore.

4.2 Quality and importance

Folta abetina (Abies alba) con esemplari giganteschi, imponenti faggi (Fagus sylvatica). In questo paesaggio forestale si inseriscono radure a pascolo e ambienti tipici di sorgenti. E' presente una considerevole avifauna (ad es. Aquila chrysaetos) oltre all'erpetofauna (ad es. Salamandrina terdigitata) e mammalofauna (tra la quale è necessario mensionare Canis lupus). Il sito presenta un eccellente grado di conservazione ed un elevato valore paesaggistico e naturalistico.
