Other Site Characteristics

La maggior parte del SIC è ricoperto da superfici artificiali e agricole; tra le tipologie naturali e seminaturali quella che presenta la maggiore copertura è rappresentata dalla pineta costiera, seguita da cospicue porzioni interessate dalle spiagge e dalla macchia a sclerofille. Va inoltre rilevato che il sito presenta anche aree umide associate al corso finale del F. Trigno. GEOLOGIA: sabbie fluviali - ghiaia e sabbia della spiaggia attuale - alluvioni. SUOLI: entisuoli xeropsamments o xerofluvents. CLIMA: Regione Mediterranea Termotipo Mesomediterraneo inferiore, Ombrotipo Subumido inferiore

4.2 Quality and importance

Zona di contatto tra ambiente fluviale e marino-costiero, mal conservato il primo, qualitativamente migliore il secondo. Gli habitat dunali si trovano mediamente in buono stato di conservazione e vanno quindi semplicemente preservati da una elevata pressione antropica legata allo sfruttamento del litorale a scopi turistico-ricreativi. Il sito risulta importante per una numerosa ornitofauna in alcuni casi nidificante.

Progetto di ricerca per la cartografia CORINE LAND COVER e la distribuzione nei siti Natura2000 del Molise degli habitat e delle specie vegetali ed animali di interesse comunitario, realizzato dalla Società Botanica Italiana.
