Apparato vulcanico, ancora attivo, originatosi dall'antico complesso strato-vulcanico del Somma-Vesuvio.

4.2 Quality and importance

Vegetazione prevalentemente costituita da popolamenti pioneri delle lave e del cono, boscaglie a latifoglie decidue, estesi rimboschimenti a pino domestico, lembi di macchia mediterranea. Presenza di betulle. Interessante zona per l'avifauna.
