Substrato costituito da calcare cretacico tipo "scaglie" e tipo "maiolica".

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito comprende pinete spontanee a Pinus halepensis in buone condizioni vegetazionali, ambienti rupicoli di elevato valore fitogeografico, e ampie distese di macchia mediterranea con pratelli a terofite vegetanti nelle radure. Nel sito sono presenti Vipera aspis hugyi endemica. Italia meridionale e Sicilia. Strongylognathus cecconii: endemica del Gargano e Tremiti.
