Other Site Characteristics

Lampia depressione attualmente convertita in risaia si estende in prossimità dei laghi salati di Sibari formati a causa della dinamica costiera per azione delle correnti e delle onde litoranee. La vegetazione naturale forestale è assente nel sito. Le depressioni retrodunali sfuggite alla coltivazione sono colonizzate da formazioni a Tamarix gallica e vi è una compenetrazione con comunità alo-igrofile mediterranee dei Juncetalia maritimi, caratterizzate da Juncus acutus, Spergularia marina, Schoenus nigricans, Hordeum sp. pl., Trifolium sp. pl. ecc. Su suoli salsi si rinviene un mosaico di comunità alofile particolarmente eterogeneo (Suaedo maritimae-Salicornietum patulae, Sarcocornietum deflexae, Suaedetum fruticosae, Spergulario salinae-Hordeetum marini). Gli acquitrini sono dominati da fitocenosi degli ambienti salmastri con canneti e giuncheti diversificati in numerose fitocenosi inquadrabili nellambito dei Phragmyto-Magnocaricetea, Molinio-Arrhenatheretea, Juncetea maritimi, Lemnetea.
