Other Site Characteristics

Presenza di Habitat ripari a Caltha palustris e Soldanella calabrella,in faggeta mista con abete su pendii montani. Il sito interessa la testata in destra idrografica del bacino del Fiume Neto e si sviluppa immediatamente a valle della Strada delle Vette che dal Valico di Monte Scuro porta a Monte Botte Donato. Tutto il sito è dominato da foreste miste di faggio e abete bianco inquadrabili nel Campanulo-Fagetum con Campanula trichocalycina, Calamintha grandiflora, Galium odoratum, Oxalis acetosella, ed è ricco di habitat rivulari e palustri a Caltha palustris e Soldanella calabrella. Questo tipo di faggeta, diffusa sulla Sila dai 1400 m in su, viene inquadrata nel Campanulo-Fagetum Gentile 1969 (Ranunculo brutii-Fagetum sylvaticae Bonin 1970).

4.2 Quality and importance

Presenza di habitat igrofili con specie endemiche o di interesse fitogeografico. Nelle risorgive allinterno della faggeta sono frequenti le comunità caratterizzate dalla presenza di Lereschia thomasii e Soldanella calabrella. Negli ambienti palustri sono presenti comuntà caratterizzate da Caltha palustris e Chaerophyllum calabrum, riferibili al Calthion. Rilevante è la presenza di Rhynchocorys elephas, specie rarissima nel resto del territorio regionale. Synodendron cylindricum è ottimo indicatore della qualità dell'ambiente forestale.
