Other Site Characteristics

La ZPS,è costituita da un tratto di mare, da una zona costiera e da aree collinari nell'interno comprese tra lo stretto di Messina e l'Aspromonte. Questa ZPS è una delle zone europee più importanti per la migrazione primaverile dei falconiformi lungo la costa la ZPS si estende da Marina di Palmi a Zagarella. Poi il confine segua l'autostrada A3, fino al cavalcavia sulla fiumara di Catona. E' inclusa la fascia di mare dello Stretto di Messina da Capo Barbi a Villa S. GiovanniQueste zone, sono caratterizzate da rupi costiere, che formano alte falesie, ricche di specie rupicole. Siti montani con morfologie pianeggianti contengono formazioni di effimeri ambienti umidi. Valloni in cassati e umidi. Siti marini all'imbocco dello Stretto di Messina.

Costa rocciosa con Falesie ricche di specie endemiche. Area importante di transito della ornitofauna migratoria nello Stretto di Messina. Stagni temporanei ove si localizzano specie rare. Presenza di interessanti boshi mesofili a bassa quota. Nei siti marini praterie di Posidonia.
