Other Site Characteristics
| E' il più vasto stagno della Sardegna. Costeggia il territorio del Sinis ad ovest con formazioni dunali nelle quali si formano paludi e piccoli stagni temporanei, tutti di enorme valore paesaggistico ed ambientale.
L'area si presenta per lo più pianeggiante costituita per la maggior parte da sedimenti del Cenozoico e del Quaternario. Le precipitazioni sono tipicamente stagionali concentrate nel periodo tra ottobre e marzo. Il mese più piovoso è dicembre con una media di 99,6 mm quello più secco è luglio con 3,6 mm. La temperatura media è di 16,9°C, la media delle massime del mese più caldo è di 32,3°C la media delle minime del mese più freddo è di 5,2°C. La massima assoluta è 39,8°C, la minima assoluta è 10,4°C. L'area presenta un clima semiarido con estati tiepide e non molto piovose e inverni piovosi e non molto freddi. I venti predominanti sono il maestrale e lo scirocco. |
4.2 Quality and importance
| Zona umida interessata dalla presenza, in periodo riproduttivo delle specie elencate nell'Allegato I: Airone Rosso; Falco di Palude, Pollo Sultano. Area di transito di avifauna durante i voli tra gli Stagni di Sale Porcus e Mistras. Riconosciuto dalla Convenzione di Ramsar. Le cenosi sono in successione catenale con le variazioni del livello d'acqua e presentano associazioni ben strutturate e floristicamente differenziate. Sono presenti tifeti e fragmiteti in particolar modo ai bordi dei canali, nelle aree in cui si ha una maggiore percentuale di salinità compare la spartina tutt'intorno allo stagno si rinvengono inoltre giuncheti e comunità a Salicornia e a Limonium. |
