4.2 Quality and importance

This is one of the best forest with well preserved floristic structure in the area of intensive forestry. This is well preserved clean hard oligo-mesotrophic lake situated in the central part of Labanoras forest. One of a few lakes from this type (not semi-dystrphic), where typical species Lobelia dortmann remains. This is well preserved clean hard oligo-mesotrophic lake with very curved and uneven shoreline situated in a complex landscape of Labanoras forest.Natural eutrophic lake typical of this landscape.A big massive of bogs with lakes, surrounding forests and coniferous forests in mineral soil.Very important, in the natural environment located semi-dystrophic lake with Lobelia, very large population of Lobelia and quaking bog in the surrounding.Natural, from urban areas isolated by forests, a lake almost not influenced by human activities.A habitat of high quality. Densities are much greater then average.Favourable residence and spawning places for M.fossilis. Density of this species is much greater then average. Lampetra planeri is less numerous; however densities are greater then average. One of the most important residence and spawing places. Density is much greater then average in other known habitats. This is very natural and clean river running through the forested area and holding vital population of Unio crassus. This is well preserved and relatively representative area of east Lithuania's transitional mires and not big stands of swamp woods. This is valuable complex of transitional mires and alkaline fens concentrated in very representative site. This is good example of mesotrophic lake surround with bog woodland.
