1.1 SituationLe site couvre une ancienne carrière de dolomie près de Wasserbillig.1.2 Milieu physiqueLe sud du site est formé par des terrasses fluviatiles sans différenciation chronologique.Dans la partie nord du site (carrière) affleurent les couches à entroques et à Ceratites du Muschelkalk.Les argilo-caillouteux à charge dolomitique, non gleyifiés, à horizon B structural couvrent le nord et les sols sablo-limoneux et limoneux, non gleyifiés à modérément gleyifiés le sud de la zone.1.3 Occupation du solLes territoires agricoles constitués par des pairies (86%) et des vergers (14%) couvrent 1/3 du site. La forêt occupe 1/2 du site et la végétation arbustive environ 5%.La carrière de dolomie occupe une surface de presque un hectare sur le site.

Intérêts selon la directive "Habitats"Le site fait partie des cinq sites proposés comme réserve chiroptèrologique pour la conservation d'espèces de chiroptères de l'annexe II de la directive Habitats définis dans le cadre du programme CEE de l'APTCS (Association pour la protection transfrontalière des chauves-souris).Il s'agit d'un site d'hibernation très important pour les cinq espèces de chauves-souris de l'annexe II observées et probablement le dernier pour la Barbastelle (Barbastella barbastellus).Ce site constitue également un site de transit, site de mâles et site de reproduction (gîtes d'accouplement) du Grand Rhinolophe (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum).

Principes de gestionLes principes de gestion à appliquer ne peuvent être établis qu’après des études approfondies concernant les populations de chiroptères présentes. Il faudra notamment déterminer les terrains avoisinants les plus importants pour la survie des espèces. Si cela s’avèrerait nécessaire, des contrats d’extensification pourront être conclus avec les exploitants agricoles des zones les plus importantes.
