1.1 SituationIl s'agit d'une zone humide située près des sources de la Sporbaach et entourée de pâturages et de plantations de conifères.1.2 Milieu physiqueLe substrat géologique du site est formé par le grès et le grès schisteux compact du Siegenien moyen ainsi que de fonds alluviaux le long de la Sporbaach.Les sols limono-caillouteux à charge schisto-phylladeuse altérée, non gleyifiés couvrent la quasi-totalité de la zone. Le long de la Sporbech, on trouve des alluvions.1.3 Occupation du solPlus de 2/3 du site sont occupés par des terres agricoles dont 1.3 ha de prairies humides peu ou non fertilisées. Les forêts qui forment quelque 28% du site sont essentiellement des forêts de conifères (55%). Les 4.5 ha de forêt feuillue sont du type Hêtraie à Luzule blanche. La saulnaie humide sur sol tourbeux couvre prés de 5 ha.

Intérêts selon la directive "Habitats"Sur le site se trouvent 5 habitats de l'annexe I de la directive. L'intérêt principal du site consiste dans la présence de zones humides bien développées partiellement couverte par une boulaie tourbeuse.La zone abrite egalement une population relativement importante de Lycaena helle.

Principes de gestionLa gestion du site concerne essentiellement la présence de zones humides importantes. Les prairies à molinie devraient être gérées par un fauchage tardif avec enlèvement du foin. Si un risque d'eutrophisation du site est constaté, des contrats d’extensification peuvent être proposés aux exploitants agricoles concernés.La hêtraie du Luzulo-Fagetum, rare dans cette partie de l’Oesling, devrait être gérée selon les principes d’une sylviculture proche de la nature.
