1.1 SituationLe site au Sud-Ouest de Kleinbettingen présente surtout un intérêt pour la conservation du triton crêté, espèce de l'annexe II de la directive 'Habitats'.1.2 Milieu physiqueLe substrat géologique du site est formé par des marnes feuilletées du Domérien.Le sud de la zone est couverte par des sols sablo-limoneux et limoneux, non gleyifiés à modérément gleyifiés. Les sols argileux, faiblement à modérément gleyifiés occupent le centre du site. Dans la vallée de l'Eisch reposent des alluvions.1.3 Occupation du solLes forêts qui occupent environ 85% du site sont formées majoritairement par la hêtraie du Asperulo-Fagetum (124ha) et la Chênaie charmaie à mélique et aspérule (41 ha).Les territoires agricoles sont surtout exploités comme pâturage (à 3/4).

Intérêts selon la directive "Habitats"L'intérêt principal du site est la présence du triton crêté. Le site abrite également quatre types habitats de l'annexe I de la directive dont un prioritaire. La forêt constitue très probablement un site de reproduction du Myotis bechsteinii.
