Other Site Characteristics

Site includes woooded dunes along the Riga Gulf and various coastal habitat types.

4.2 Quality and importance

Main qualifying features are Wooded dunes of Atlantic, Continental and Boreal region (2180), Salicornia and other annuals.. (1310), Western taiga (9010*), Annual vegetation of drift lines (1210), Embryonic shifting dunes (2110), Shifting dunes along the shoreline with Ammophila arenaria (2120). Qualifying species is Dianthus arenarius arenarius.High quality old growth dune primeval forest with structures maintaining high level of biodiversity. Several areas distinguished as forest key habitats.
