Other Site Characteristics

Large bog area of the eastern vegetation type with Chamaedaphne calyculata surrounded by pine dominated bog woodland. Hummock-hollow complex, dystrophic lake and mineral islands are present.

4.2 Quality and importance

Qualifying features are Active raised bogs (7110*), Transitional mires and quaking bogs (7140), Natural dystrophic lakes (3160) and bog woodland (91D0*). No significant importance for owls because forest massive lies outside the boundaries, only W part suitable for woodpeckers, whereas habitats good for Capercaillie, Black Grouse and Nightjar. Not rich in wetland birds and waders. Territory is suitable as stop over site for Canis lupus coming from Russia.
