Other Site Characteristics

Site includes rich fens and raised bog surrounded by bog woodland and mixed forests.

4.2 Quality and importance

Qualifying features are Alkaline fens 7230, Active raised bogs 7110*, and 91D0* Bog woodland. Entire bog, including the currently protected fragment, is one of the best breeding sites for Montagu's Harrier in Latvia (2-3p.). Qualifying species are Vertigo geyeri and Vertigo genesii. Hosts large number of nationally rare plant species.
