Other Site Characteristics

Site consists of three parts located at Kisezers Lake, Riga City. Reed beds, dry and moist meadows, fragments of broad-leaved forests, wet Alnus glutinosa forests and dry coniferous forests are found there. Meadows have formed as a result of human activities (grazing, hay-making). D - Red Data Book of Latvia

4.2 Quality and importance

Comparatively natural habitats with high species diversity. Main quialifying feature is Lowland hay meadows (6510). Qualifying species are Cobitis taenia, and Osmoderma eremita. One of few sites in Latvia where Armeria maritima grows. Hosts nationally rare plant and invertebrate species.
