Other Site Characteristics

Extensive coastal dune area, partly forested.on the border of calcified (south) and decalcified dunes (north). In 1997 an indentation ("De Kerf") was made in the outer dune row to restore seawater influence on a small scale. Site adjacent to NL NL980108 Noordhollands Duinreservaat.

4.2 Quality and importance

International important dune habitats like grey dunes and crowberry brown dunes.One of the seven most important sites for the habitat type Decalcified fixed dunes with Empetrum nigrum (2140). Site includes prime forest site already existing before 1850 (so-called "A-locatie bos").
