Other Site Characteristics

The site is the most western part of the island Schouwen-Duiveland at the North Sea coast, with a great variety of dune communities.Site adjacent to NL 4000017 Voordelta (coastal waters)

4.2 Quality and importance

Important area where a great variety of threatened dune habitats occur. It is one of the few places in the Netherlands where Apium repens grows. It is also an important area for Microtus oeconomus arenicola.One of the ten most important sites for the habitat type Fixed dunes with herbaceous vegetation ("grey dunes"; 2130). One of the five most important sites for the habitat type Dunes with Hippophae rhamnoides (2160).
