Other Site Characteristics

Pastures on peat with lots of water and marsh-lands. It consists of canals, reedlands, moist grasslands, heaths and swampforests with endangered plantspecies.

4.2 Quality and importance

Big nursery colony of Myotis dasycneme is nearby (outside the area). Important for meadow birds and waders.One of the four most important sites for the habitat type Northern Atlantic wet heaths with Erica tetralix (4010; subtype Oxycocco-Ericion). One of the three most important sites for the habitat type Transition mires and quaking bogs (7140, subtype Caricion nigrae). The site holds one of the four most important populations of the vole Microtus oeconomus arenicola of the Noord-Holland mainland metapopulation.
