Other Site Characteristics
| A dammed estuary, formerly part of the Waddenzee (closed off in 1969), which has become freshwater, though the estuary structure remains. The surrounding area is mainly open grassland and arable xxx land with scattered farms. The site consists of a large freshwater lake, former creeks, grasslands, marshlands and shrubs. It is adjacent to the mudflats and saltmarshes of the SPA Waddenzee (NL9801001) |
4.2 Quality and importance
| The following data refer to the period 1993-1997 (data in paragraph 3.2a-b refer te period 1999-2003).
