Neste sítio são observadas genericamente comunidades que se integram no complexo de vegetação climatófila [séries de vegetação] denominado Mayteno umbellatae-Oleo maderensis sigmetum [série do zambujal madeirense]: 1) O clímax (Mayteno umbellatae- Oleetum maderensis) (inclui-se no habitat 9320) corresponde a micro-bosques ou matagais infra-florestais dominados por arbustos paleomediterrânicos esclerófilos, xerofíticos e termófilos como sejam Olea maderensis, Maytenus umbellata, Chamaemeles coriacea, Dracaena draco, e Asparagus scoparius; 2) O mato de substituição (inclui-se no habitat 5330) do Mayteno- Oleetum maderensis é maioritariamente, em solos medianamente profundos menos erodidos e solos agrícolas abandonados, a comunidade de figueira-do-inferno (Euphorbietum piscatoriae); 3) Em solos incipientes (leptossolos) e afloramentos rochosos tende a ocorrer maioritariamente a Artemisio argenteae-Genistetum tenerae (inclui-se no habitat 5330). Para além das comunidades mencionadas, temos comunidades casmo-comofíticas madeirenses sobre paredes rochosas nuas, quer basálticas, quer de cinzas e piroclastos, nomeadamente (aqui consideradas como incluídas no habitat 1250): 1) Musschiaetum aureae, sendo uma comunidade da encosta sul, termomediterrânica, seca a sub-húmida inferior, em basaltos e outros substratos duros, constituída por Aeonium glandulosum, Sinapidrendon angustifolium, Sedum nudum, Sedum fusiforme, Sonchus ustulatus, Tolpis suculenta; 2) Sedo nudi-Aeonietum glutinosae, sendo uma comunidade da encosta sul, termomediterrânica, seca a sub-húmida inferior, em basaltos e outros substratos duros, constituída por Aeonium glandulosum, Sinapidrendon angustifolium, Sedum nudum, Sedum fusiforme, Sonchus ustulatus, Tolpis suculenta, entre outras.

4.2 Quality and importance

Assegurar a sobrevivência a longo prazo dos habitats 5330 e 9320, bem como assegurar a conservação de comunidades rupícolas características deste sítio (aqui consideradas como incluídas no habitat 1250), bem como das espécies respetivas, em particular de espécies com distribuição restrita ou quase restrita a este sítio, nomeadamente Andryala crithmifolia, Erysimum madeirense, Helichrysum monizii, Cheirolophus massonianus. Os táxones seguintes: Carlina salicifolia, Davallia canariensis, Ephedra fragilis, Globularia salicina, Tolpis suculenta são incluídos na lista de espécies no campo 3.3 pelo facto de se constituírem como elementos estruturantes dos dois habitats predominantes neste Sítio ou sendo espécies muito raras no arquipélago da Madeira. Adicionalmente, todos os táxones, à excepção de Davallia canariensis e Ephedra fragilis, são endémicos da Macaronésia.
