Other Site Characteristics

O estuário dos rios Minho e Coura estende-se desde Valença até à foz do rio Minho. Esta área reúne um conjunto der habitats húmidos de elevada importância ecológica incluindo águas estuarinas, bancos de vasa e de areia, sapais, matas ripícolas, caniçais e juncais. Na zona central do estuário a velocidade do fluxo diminui permitindo a acumulação de depósitos sedimentares e a formação de ilhas, que são utilizadas para exploração agrícola e pecuária.
