Other Site Characteristics

Faixa litoral de falésias altas com uma área terrestre de matos e campos abertos e uma faixa de mar. Esta última inclui uma extensa área marinha localizada dentro das águas territoriais, com uma distância máxima à costa de cerca de 8km.

4.2 Quality and importance

Importante área de passagem migratória para aves planadoras e passeriformes migradores trans-saharianos. Em termos da área marinha, inúmeras espécies migradoras marinhas usam a área desta ZPE, em particular como área de passagem, mas tambémcomo áreas de descanso e alimentação, principalmente durante os períodos de migração e invernada. Esta área adquire particular importância para a Pardela das Baleares Puffinus mauritanicus, cujos indivíduos podem ser observados em movimentos com orientação norte/sul e sul/norte, em movimentos locais, designadamente em alimentação, e em jangadas.
