Situl, situat pe malul estic al Mureșului, în apropierea localității Lechința, reprezintă un mozainc de habitate - de la cele specifice luncii râului Mureș, cu vegetație specifică de luncă, o zonă împădurită în est, pajiște pe coastă de deal și până la zonele de la limita localității, spre nord, unde influența antropică și-a făcut prezența.;

4.2 Quality and importance

Mozaic de pajiști stepice ponto - panonice de colilie și de Festuca valesiaca formate pe soluri scheletice și slab sărăturoase, habitate preferate ale unor taxoni endemici de lepidoptere: Cucullia mixta lorica, Hadula dianthi hungarica (endemisme panonice) respectiv Conisania poelli ostrogovichi (endemism transilvan). Alte lepidoptere rare Autophila dilucida, Cucullia xeranthemi, Colias chrysotheme, Plebejus sephirus.;
