Other Site Characteristics

Zona aparține unității epimetamorfice din partea de NE a masivului Poiana Ruscă. Din punct de vedere al petrografiei semnalăm prezența șisturilur epimetamorfice, care sunt străbătute de numeroase corpuri magmatice puse în zonă în diferite perioade geologice, șisturi sericito-cloritoase, care prezintă mineralizații de hematit, oligist și magnetit. Aspectul actual este de panou înalt(peneplenă pretortoriană); văile au profile largi, sunt puțin adânci, cu versanți domoli și curs meandrat în amonte. Vegetația dominantă este cea de arborete naturale de fag cu structuri pluriene, cvasivirgine.;

4.2 Quality and importance

Acest sit este constituit aproape în totalitate din arborete de fag cu vârste de peste 100 ani conservate în starea lor naturală. Arboretele conțin elemente în vârstă de până la 180-200 ani, cu dimensiuni excepționale(diametre peste 1,5 m și înălțimi peste 40 m). Habitatele de interes comunitar întâlnite aici sunt: Păduri de fag de tip Luzulo-Fagetum, Păduri de fag de tip Asperulo-Fagetum și Păduri dacice de fag (Symphyto-Fagion).;
