Other Site Characteristics

Munții Ciucului sunt o grupă muntoasă a Carpaților Moldo-Transilvani, aparținând de lanțul muntos al Carpaților Orientali. Cel mai înalt pisc este Vârful Noscolat, având 1.553 m.;

4.2 Quality and importance

Situl propus reprezintă un mosaic de pajiști și păduri unde fânețele montane ocupă un loc important. După estimările noastre, zona propusă este ce mai întinsă zonă cu fânețe montane actual folosite din Carpații Orientali. Este foarte important de subliniat că fânețele fac parte dintr-un peisaj viu, unde întregi comunități rurale trăiesc din agricultură tradițională, și contribuie într-un mod foarte important la menținerea și managementul habitatelor. În zona propusă trăiesc populații importante de prădădori mari, pentru care această zonă este și un coridor ecologic, permițând mișcările acestora în direcție nord-sud.;
