Other Site Characteristics

Situl in suprafata de 32246 ha este situat în Carpaii Orientali, Obcinele Bucovinei, mai precis Obcina Feredeului i Obcina Mare, intre versantul tehnic stang al Râului Moldova i versantul tehnic drept al Râului Moldovia, cât i pe culoarul Râului Moldovia i la est de acesta.Relieful predominant este versantul cu înclinari preponderent între 16 i 30 grade, dar pe suprafee restrânse apar i alte forme de relief cum ar fi platoul si lunca inalta. Altitudinal situl este cuprins intre aprox 600m (UP I Deia – O.S. Vama) i aprox. 1500m (U.P. I Demacua – O.S.E. Tomnatic). Din punct de vedere geologic SCI-ul se încadreaza în zona fliului carpatic, reprezentat prin unitaile de Audia i de Tarcau, iar formaiunile geologice sunt de vârsta mezozoica i neozoica. Din punct de vedere fitoclimatic situl este situat în etajul montan al amestecurilor(de molid, brad i fag) i în etajul montan al molidului. Dupa sistemul de clasificare a lui Köppen, adaptat la teritoriul arii noastre, distingem doua regiuni climatice Dfk(600-1000m) si Dfck(peste 1000m). Preponderent suprafaa sitului este acoperita cu padure (94%). ;

4.2 Quality and importance

SCI-ul se situeaza în etajul montan al amestecurilor (de molid, brad i fag) i în etajul montan al molidului, bonitatea statiunilor forestiere fiind superioara si mijlocie. In cuprinsul acestui sit se intalnesc 22 de tipuri de padure incadrate in 9 tipuri de habitate forestiere din Romania care au corespondenta cu tipurile de habitate Natura2000: R4102 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de molid (Picea abies), fag (Fagus sylvatica) i brad (Abies alba) cu Hieracium rotundatum (corespondent tip de habitat Natura 2000 – 9110 Luzulo-Fagetum beech forest / Paduri de fag de tip Luzulo-Fagetum ); R4401 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de anin alb (Alnus incana) cu Telekia specioasa, (corespondent tip de habitat Natura 2000 – 91E0 Alluvial forest with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior (Alno-Padion, Alnion incanae, Salicion albae) / Paduri aluviale cu Alnus glutinosa i Fraxinus excelsior (Alno-Padion, Alnion incanae, Salicion albae); R4103 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de molid (Picea abies), fag (Fagus sylvatica) i brad (Abies alba) cu Leucanthemum waldsteinii,R4104 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de fag (Fagus sylvatica) i brad (Abies alba) cu Pulmonaria rubra,R4109 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de fag (Fagus sylvatica) cu Dentaria glandulosa (corespondent tip de habitat Natura 2000 – 91V0 Dacian beech forest / Paduri dacice de fag (Symphyto-Fagion) ); R4205 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de molid (Picea abies) cu Oxalis acetosella, R4206 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de molid (Picea abies) i brad (Abies alba) cu Hieracium rotundatum, R4207 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de molid (Picea abies) i brad (Abies alba) cu Hylocomium splendens, R4208 - Paduri sud-est carpatice de molid (Picea abies) i brad (Abies alba) cu Luzula sylvatica (corespondent tip de habitat Natura 2000 – 9410 Acidophilous Picea forests of the montane to alpine levels (Vaccinio-Piceetea)/ Paduri acidofile de Picea abies din regiunea montana (Vaccinio-Piceetea). In concluzie situl este deosebit de valoros atat pentru habitatele forestiere de fagete, in special tipul de habitat 91V0 - Paduri dacice de fag (Symphyto-Fagion), care ocupa cea mai mare suprafata la nivelul sitului, urmat de habitatele 9410 - Paduri acidofile de Picea abies din regiunea montana (Vaccinio-Piceetea), 9110 - Paduri de fag de tip Luzulo-Fagetum si 91E0 - Paduri aluviale cu Alnus glutinosa i Fraxinus excelsior (Alno-Padion, Alnion incanae, Salicion albae), cat si pentru prezenta in cadrul sitului a carnivorelor mari. ;
