Zona forestiera de importana majora pentru carnivorele mari, Canis lupus, Ursus arctos – habitat caracteristic al acestora în regiunea biogeografica Continentala.;

4.2 Quality and importance

Sit de importana majora pentru carnivorele mari rezidente, Canis lupus, Ursus arctos – habitat caracteristic al acestora în regiunea biogeografica Continentala i zona de concentrare pentru specia Ursus arctos în perioada de hiperfagie (sfârit de vara-toamna). Împreuna cu celelalte situri propuse pentru speciile de carnivore mari în regiunea biogeografica Continentala, situl are scopul principal de a conserva un procentaj reprezentativ din habitatul Continental specific acestor specii, i anume Subcarpaii Vestici ai Carpailor Orientali. Sit important desemnat pentru habitatele forestiere 9130 (Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests) i 91Y0 (Dacian oak & hornbeam forests). Sit de importana ridicata pentru speciile de lilieci listate. De importana ridicata i pentru Lutra lutra, i speciile de amfibieni Bombina i Triturus.;
