Prin poziția sa în cadrulCâmpiei Jijia-Bașeu (nordul Câmpiei Jijiei), situl ASPA Iezer-Dorohoi ocupă albia majoră a văii râului Jijia și este caracterizat în principal de prezența speciilor de plante higrofile și hidrofile, care asociate unui luciu de apă formează habitate. Aceste habitate oferă condiții de adăpost, reproducere și hrănire pentru specii de păsări, mamifere și insecte caracteristice zonelor umede.;
