  • S: in case that the data on species are sensitive and therefore have to be blocked for any public access enter: yes
  • NP: in case that a species is no longer present in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Type: p = permanent, r = reproducing, c = concentration, w = wintering (for plant and non-migratory species use permanent)
  • Unit: i = individuals, p = pairs or other units according to the Standard list of population units and codes in accordance with Article 12 and 17 reporting (see reference portal)
  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

The site is a valley dominated by arable land around a shallow lake. The water table varies considerably during the year. Consequently the area of open water varies from most of the wetland to a few percent. The bedrock is Precambrian and the types of soil are mainly post glacial clay, gyttja and gyttja clay. Some higher laying areas are dominated by sandy till. Pastures, broad leafed woods, mixed forests and coniferous forests are other characteristic landscape elements.

4.2 Quality and importance

This site is considered to be of national conservation interest. The avian fauna is species rich and the site is important to migrating birds. Unfortunately we have no data on numbers of specific species, but over 10 000 birds can be counted in spring and autumn. Species with high numbers of resting birds are i.e. ruff, teal, widgeon, wood sandpiper and common snipe. It is also an important breeding ground for wetland birds. Angarnsjöängen is well known to the public and large numbers of visitors are around during spring. The reasons to include the species listed in section 3.3 with motivation D are that they are considered key species when identifying sites of nature conservation interest.
