Other Site Characteristics

This island consists exclusively of till mixed with some calcareous till. Islands without flat rocks are very unusual in the Stockholm archipelago. A sandy beach is situated on the site. The site is dominated by primeval coniferous forest. A dry meadow and a small deciduous wood is located on the western point.

4.2 Quality and importance

The forest on Bullerskär is one of the best kept primeval forests in the county of Stockholm. The forest is dominated by spruce with varying age up to 160 years. It is considered to have a long continuity without human impact. There is a high amount of dead wood. Nothing is known about lower flora and fauna.
