- PF: for the habitat types that can have a non-priority as well as a priority form (6210, 7130, 9430) enter "X" in the column PF to indicate the priority form.
- NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
- Cover: decimal values can be entered
- Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
- Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)
3.2 Species referred to in Article 4 of Directive 2009/147/EC and listed in Annex II of Directive 92/43/EEC and site evaluation for them
- Group: A = Amphibians, B = Birds, F = Fish, I = Invertebrates, M = Mammals, P = Plants, R = Reptiles
- S: in case that the data on species are sensitive and therefore have to be blocked for any public access enter: yes
- NP: in case that a species is no longer present in the site enter: x (optional)
- Type: p = permanent, r = reproducing, c = concentration, w = wintering (for plant and non-migratory species use permanent)
- Unit: i = individuals, p = pairs or other units according to the Standard list of population units and codes in accordance with Article 12 and 17 reporting (see reference portal)
- Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
- Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics
This site consists of two separate areas along the northern shoreline of lake Aspdalssjön. There are scattered outcrop of Precambrian bedrock, though it is not very important for the character of the site. Soils are dominated of lime-rich till and, in the eastern part, fen-peat. In the western part there is also elements of varved clay. Vegetation in the western part consists of overgrown agricultural landscape, probably former hay-meadows and pastures. The forest is dominated by middle-aged aspen. Scattered in this forests there are giant old oak and ash trees with large crowns, showing a history of semi-open landscape. Ash-trees show signs of former pollarding. The eastern part consist of old mixed forest on till and middle-age birch-forest on peat. These latter areas are overgrown former wet-land hay-meadows. |
4.2 Quality and importance
Much of the quality of this site consists of being a part of a local network of small mixed forests in near natural conditions, situated nearby each other. This rather small site is however in it self extremely rich in red data list fungi, lichens and bryophytes. There are two main substrates for these species, and the presence of many rare species probably is due to continuos presence of these substrates. Most of the fungi live in spruce logs, that is laying dead lignum. Most of the lichens and bryophytes are epiphytes on aspen and old oak, ash, lime and maple. Among the fungi there are three northern species, very rare this far south; Phlebia centrifuga, Skeletocutis tschulymica and Fomitopsis rosea. The site is one of the richest localities known in Sweden for the vulnerable bryophyte Neckera pennata. In the lichen-flora there is an obvious sub-oceanic element, present in most north-eastern part of the province Uppland. This site is however the only known site for the vulnerable sub-oceanic species Collema subflaccidum. The site have species-rich, herb-rich flora of vascular plants due to lime-rich soils. Lutra lutra probably reproduce in the rivulet-system passing Aspdalssjön. Thus the site is regularly visited, though no more important than the rest of the rivulet-system. Mixed forest in the eastern part probably have long forest continuity but is probably late succession phases after some kind of cultural influences. The proportion of old broad-leafed deciduous trees is comparatively high. The causality is not fully understood thought this might depend on lime-rich soils, as well as on influence from some kind of ancient land use. Forested peat along lake Aspdalssjön mainly consist of former sedge meadows formed by hay cutting. They don't have long forest continuity and haven't yet developed high biodiversity. |
