Other Site Characteristics

Dyvik is a steep mountainside, situated on the South side of Brevikshalvön, a peninsula that is built up of steep horst-ridges with different types of siliquose Precambrian rock. The height of the precipice is approximately 25 meters more or less vertical. To large extent the peninsula is exploited and built on.

4.2 Quality and importance

Major part of the site is a precipice. At the foot of the steep parts there is an accumulation of boulders. In this part there are trees growing, mainly deciduous forest. The flat surfaces of vertical rock with percolating water and parts with boulders provides good conditions for an interesting flora of bryophytes as well as good conditions for snails that require stable conditions. A few bryophytes rare in this region have been recorded in the site.
