Other Site Characteristics

The site is a fraction of a young stand of mixed forest in a hollow around a turning space at the end of a forestry road. The soils consist mainly of sandy till, rich in lime-compounds, partly in thin layer on siliceous bedrock.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site is one of the most important reproduction sites for Euphydras maturna in the meta-population of the province of Uppland. The site seems to be in a late part of preferred succession-stages. The road is most probably important for dispersal to new sites. It might also have a function in the mating system as good areas for territories held by the males. North and west of the site it is sheltered from wind by mature forest. When these forests will be clear-felled, they will be replaced by young forest in the same stand as the site.
